I purchased a Yale Unity Digital Lock about a year ago, and it has sorted all my issues with my children misplacinging keys and forgetting to lock the front door. The lock is connected to the Yale Access App on my Android phone so I can set the front door to automatically lock itself one minute after it’s opened. No more second thoughts. From my experience, the best thing about the Yale Access App is all lock activities are recorded. I can easily check on who, when and what time anyone comes in and leaves. I also receive notifications if the door has been left open for too long. Everyone knows the best thing about having a smart lock is that you can remotely unlock the door to allow people you trust to enter. In my case, it caters for my elderly in laws who are not so comfortable with mobile phone technology, so I have issued them with access cards which can be disabled anytime should they lose them. One thing about the Yale Access App is that you need to keep it updated over time, just like your phone system. However, i set it to auto update even if you are not a tech-savvy person and so far, I have had no trouble. Overall, it’s a great smart lock and I have no hesitation in recommending it to all families!
Spoke to a Yale support person today to discuss an issue with an older Yale product. The guy was really friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me all the information I could possibly need to easily rectify the problem I had - which wasn’t the fault of the unit but with a battery. After this after-sales experience I would not hesitate to buy another Yale product. 👍👍👍
I have installed the Yale Unity Smart Locks on my two front doors, the Dual Door functionality is handy in that I only have to unlock one to unlock both. Battery life is good and the ability to integrate with Home Assistant is very convenient. I only wish the Yale app and bluetooth range were a bit better.
Unfortunately the alarm did not work when the burglers turned off my power. Make sure you have a reliable battery backup and don't rely on the product itself.
I'm pretty happy with the lock. I like not needing to carry keys. It's incredibly convenient for the door to unlock itself as I drive in the driveway. And the kids can let themselves in without having to carry keys too. It's also very handy being able to allow entry remotely when needed. The Yale lock has proven to be very reliable and the battery has lasted surprisingly well- over a year.
